South Africa’s Children Rely on Us. And We Rely on You.
A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Generous Donor — You Helped Heal Katleho’s Heart
Because of your kindness and generosity, little Katleho, just two years old, now has the chance to live a full and healthy life.
Since birth, Katleho — born with Down Syndrome — has bravely battled a Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), a small hole in the heart. His first years were filled with hospital visits, difficulty breathing and feeding, frequent illnesses, and the constant risk of heart failure. Life was an uphill battle for this courageous little boy and his loving family.
But thanks to your generosity, The Boikanyo Foundation was able to step in and make a miracle happen.
Your donation helped cover all the medical consumables needed for Katleho’s life-saving heart surgery, performed free of charge by the incredible team at Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital.
Without your support, Katleho might have remained on a long waiting list for years — his condition worsening while he waited for government funding that often comes too late.
Because of you, he now has the gift of a bright, healthy future — one filled with play, laughter, and the simple joys every child deserves.
Your generosity didn’t just heal a heart — it changed a life.
From all of us at The Boikanyo Foundation, thank you for believing in our mission and for giving children like Katleho the chance to grow, thrive, and dream. 💛
To reduce the number of disadvantaged and underprivileged children awaiting life-changing heart surgery.
To improve the Children’s Heart Surgery Unit at The Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital by providing resources and opportunities.
Our name, The Boikanyo oundation, was proposed by the ICU staff of Johannesburg Hospital. The word originates from Tswana and directly translated means “We rely on you”, for it is our nations most destitute and impoverished children that rely on us to change their lives forever and for the better.
